The Goal of “Equip Classes”
To provide Biblical and theological training for knowing God through being equipped to better know His Word, grow in the Christian life, and engage in ministry.
Classes will emphasize themes related to…
- The Bible - to equip believers in their knowledge of the Bible by studying either a
book of the Bible, a section of the Bible, or an important Biblical theme. - The basics of the faith and theology - to equip believers in foundational aspects of
Christian faith and life, in order to better understand and defend what we believe. - Christian growth - to equip believers in practical areas of life and godliness.
- Ministry - to equip believers in practical ways of serving the Lord.
Along with the equip classes for adults and teens, there is an “Equip Kids” class offered for ages 3-12! Equip Kids encourages children in Scripture memory, singing, and theology at an age-appropriate level. Nursery is provided for babies and children 0-3yrs.
What are the “Equip Classes” like?
Equip Classes are led with a variety of different styles depending on the teacher and the class subject. Generally, the classes are taught in a more conversational, discussion- oriented style. This style invites participation and feedback that can assist the learning process for many people. However, some classes are taught with a more “lecture” style if that is what the teacher is more comfortable with.
Why are they called “Equip” Classes?
“Equip Classes” gets its name from Ephesians 4:11-12 which says, “And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ.”
The Greek word that is translated, “equip” in Eph. 4, means, “to make someone completely adequate or sufficient for something, to furnish, to prepare and provide what is needed for someone to accomplish a task.” This word accurately describes what is hoped to be accomplished through these classes: that each of us would be better “furnished” with what we need to know, believe, remember, and obey as God uses His Word to grow us in our Christian lives.
Who should attend “Equip Classes”?
Anyone who would like to grow in their knowledge of God’s Word and be better equipped for living the Christian life, whether you have been reading the Bible for fifty years or fifty days!
